Stanley E. Lathrop papers, 1839-1910.

Civil War letters written by Stanley E. Lathrop of Company M, 1st Wisconsin Cavalry Regiment, to his family in Montello, Wisconsin, describing scouting in Missouri (1861-1863), and battles and camp life in Tennessee and Georgia (1864-1865). Also included are a letter from Stanley's father, Alfred, to his future wife (1839) and a manuscript essay concerning the La Pointe, Wisconsin, area in the 1800s entitled "The Plymouth Rock of Wisconsin" (1910). Also includes photographs of the National Cemetery at Andersonville, Georgia (circa 1875) and the National Cemetery at Chattanooga, Tennessee (circa 1895).
